Mongolia experiences extreme temperatures, with winters dropping to -40°C (-40°F) and summers soaring to nearly 40°C (104°F). Despite the scorching heat, on August 10, ASEZ STAR members in Ulaanbaatar carried out a “Green World 1” activity, cleaning the area around the Dragon Intercity Bus Terminal. Around 140 participants, including ASEZ STAR members and officials from Ulaanbaatar Municipality, joined forces to clean up the streets.

1. The “Green World’ initiative is one of the four key activities led by ASEZ STAR, which also include Good Student, Good Neighbor, and Green School, focusing on promoting positive actions within families, schools, nature and society. ASEZ STAR carries out activities such as tree planting and street cleanup in 175 countries around the world to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) No. 14, “Life Below Water,” and No. 15, “Life on Land.”

The Dragon Intercity Bus Terminal is frequently used by domestic and international tourists visiting attractions like Lake Baikal and Lake Khuvsgul. During the event, ASEZ STAR members collected approximately 700 kilograms (1,540 lbs) of waste, including plastic bags and cigarette butts. Several passerby citizens commended their efforts.

S. Uranchimeg, an official from the Songino Khairkhan District Office, who attended the cleanup, said, “I am happy to be part of the ‘Green World’ initiative. I’ve never seen students participate in such efforts before. I extend my thanks to ASEZ STAR for forming such an exemplary volunteer group.”

ASEZ STAR will continue its diverse activities to improve the global environment, playing a key role as leaders for future generations.
