On September 8, about 30 members of ASEZ STAR from the Wanwadi Chapter in Pune, Maharashtra, carried out an environmental cleanup along B.T. Kawade Road as part of the Green World Project. B.T. Kawade Road is a busy area lined with street vendors and frequented by office workers from nearby commercial districts, resulting in heavy foot traffic and a large amount of waste generation.

Gathering at the site around 9:30 a.m., the volunteers headed into the streets carrying large trash bins nearly their own size. The area was scattered with household waste ranging from plastic bags and textile scraps to plastic and paper packaging materials and discarded egg cartons. Carefully covering every corner of the street until the waste was loaded onto trucks, the members collected approximately 500 kilograms (about 1,100 lbs) of trash that day.

Angel Samuel (16), a member of ASEZ STAR, shared, “I happened to run into a friend who was curious about what we were doing. When I told him that we were cleaning the streets to help create a cleaner environment, he was surprised. I felt proud to introduce my friend to the ASEZ STAR project.”
