From early in the morning, the Hoguk Bohun Guro Senior Center in Guro District, Seoul, was bustling with people. The students rolled up their sleeves to clean the center, bringing smiles to the faces of the proud seniors watching them.

On January 20, about 30 members of ASEZ STAR (Church of God Student Volunteer Group) from the Seoul 2nd Geumcheon Branch visited the Hoguk Bohun Guro Senior Center. Their goal was not only to make the facility cleaner, but also to uplift the spirits of the elderly. This center was established by Guro District for national patriots and local senior citizens.

The members began by gifting the seniors with handkerchiefs they had prepared in advance. Then, working in pairs, they moved sofas and wiped down the floors. They cleaned massage chairs, lockers, door frames—frequently touched surfaces—as well as picture frames hanging on the walls, carefully taking them down to remove dust. When the elderly spoke to them during the cleaning, the students paused and listened attentively. The pleased seniors showed their appreciation by personally offering drinks to the volunteers.

Member Ryang Ji-eun shared, “We cleaned with the hope that the seniors would feel comfortable here, and seeing them so happy made me feel proud. I truly hope everyone who spends time here stays healthy.”
