On February 28, around 20 members of ASEZ STAR, the Church of God Student Volunteer Group, from the Dongducheon Central Chapter visited a senior center in Bosan-dong, bringing joy to the elderly residents.
The ASEZ STAR members were warmly welcomed as they arrived at the Ssaritmal Grandmas’ Senior Center, carrying gift packages of fruits and rice cakes. The elderly expressed their gratitude to the students who placed candy necklaces around their necks, saying, “You must be busy with your studies, but thank you for coming,” and “It’s so thoughtful of you to bring gifts.” The students also engaged the seniors in activities designed to help prevent dementia, such as decorating back scratchers and making keychains. The visit was filled with conversation and laughter, creating a heartwarming atmosphere for both the students and the elderly.
Kim Seong-bo, President of Dongducheon Branch of Korean Senior Citizens Association, complimented them, saying, “Volunteer service brings smiles and happiness. It’s wonderful to see students bringing joy to the elderly.”
Kim Min-gi, a student from Shinheung High School, shared his feelings, saying, “I didn’t expect them to enjoy it this much. I’ll definitely visit more often with greater care and attention in the future.”
