On July 25, ASEZ STAR members from the Yeongdong region, who were on vacation, visited the\u00a0365 Safe Town\u00a0in Taebaek. It was to assist with the smooth operation of the\u00a03rd Korea Youth Safety Camp, which started on July 16. The camp welcomed 1,250 elementary students from grades 4 to 6, divided into four groups for a 2-night and 3-day experience.<\/p>\n

Following the departure of the third group of participants, ASEZ STAR members, in cooperation with officials from Taebaek City<\/a> and the 365 Safe Town, cleaned up the tents and campgrounds. Aged from 13 to 19, volunteers from Taebaek, Gangneung, Sokcho, and Donghae gathered in the afternoon. They entered each tent to collect trash like drink bottles, snack wrappers, towels, clothes, and even mobile phones, while handing over lost items to the camp staff.<\/p>\n

They also dusted off floor mats and cleaned the areas around the tents. Despite the heat, which left their faces flushed and foreheads covered in sweat, the volunteers worked together cheerfully, completing the cleanup efficiently like a fun group activity. Kang Sung-jin from Gangneung, who was spending his final summer vacation before graduating high school, said, \u201cWorking together made the task go by quickly. I feel proud to be able to help our community.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taebaek City Councilor Hong Ji-young visited the site and remarked, \u201cThanks to all of you, Taebaek looks even more shiny. In a time when individualism is on the rise, seeing you work together gives me hope for our society. By continuing to cultivate your kindness as you grow, you\u2019ll become remarkable members of the community.\u201d Taebaek City Safety Camp General Manager also welcomed the students\u2019 efforts, noting that this was the first volunteer activity of the year.<\/p>\n

Prior to their volunteer work, the ASEZ STAR members participated in various experiences at the 365 Safe Town, Korea\u2019s largest comprehensive safety education center. They used VR equipment and 4D facilities to simulate disasters like earthquakes, wildfires, and floods, learning important response strategies, including CPR.<\/p>\n

Yang Jim-in from Gangneung said, \u201cI\u2019ve never experienced an earthquake or disaster before, so I didn\u2019t realize how dangerous they could be.
