Silmido Beach, located on Muuido Island in Jung-gu, Incheon, is a popular tourist destination. Twice a day, the tide recedes, allowing visitors to walk to the adjacent Silmido Island. With its beach and pine forest, the area attracts many tourists.<\/p>\n

On August 7, more than 450 members of ASEZ STAR, the Church of God Student Volunteer Group, along with their friends and parents from the Incheon and Bucheon regions cleaned up Silmido Beach as part of their summer student camp.<\/p>\n

Despite the heat, the volunteers cheerfully chatted and worked together, picking up trash along the beach. Their trash bags were quickly filled with a variety of debris, including styrofoam pieces washed up by the waves, plastic bottles, and various other waste items.<\/p>\n

Park Seo-yeon from Incheon said, “Although it was hot, cleaning up with many members felt like fun. I was especially proud to see my friend, who has a deep interest in protecting the environment, actively participate in this cleanup.”<\/p>\n

Over the past year, ASEZ STAR members from Incheon and Bucheon have conducted 16 similar cleanup activities. ASEZ STAR members from around the world make efforts to clean up the environment inside and outside of school, and use their free time such as holidays and vacations to visit senior citizens at facilities and tree planting to revitalize the local community.<\/p>\n
